Alan Ulbricht earns Team Madama’s first Brown belt

Today during an intense practice, Alan Ulbricht received his much deserved Brown Belt. Alan is one of my first students. He has dedicated himself to a Jiu Jitsu way of life. He is one of only a handful of my first students who still trains. He has displayed the technical knowledge, leadership and teaching skills, personal belief, character, loyalty and honor of a true martial artist. I am extremely proud and fortunate to have learned from the very best teachers and I have spent most of my adult life trying to live up to their standards. I am confident that Alan will do the same. Please congratulate him and show him the respects deserved of a true Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Brown Belt.

This past week the coaching staff had the pleasure of making the following promotions.
Muay Thai – Mike Shamy Elshamy was awarded our first ever Red Arm Band after a nearly flawless performance at his MMA debut for Ring of Combat. Kru Mike Lanzano presented him with the new rank during a packed day class. John Purfield was also awarded his 2nd stripe white armband.
BJJ – Brian Howell – white 1, Vinnie Polanco white 3, Ryan Buhl white 3, Jake Berkeley green 1, Nick Luongo Green

Team Madama’s Salek to make MMA debut

One of our neweset members Vinnie Salek will be making his MMA debut at Dead Serious on May 26th at the Rahway Recreation Center. Vinnie is a local legend in the wrestling community having placed at the state level three times finishing 5th, 2nd, and winning the State Championship as a senior at Toms River East High School. He then went on to a successful career at college in Iowa. Vinnie looks to continue his winning ways in the cage. With our support we expect exactly that. Come support our teammate at this event, tickets are available at Madama Jiu Jitsu for $40 per seat.

ROC XIII Team Madama standout Mike Elshamy won his MMA debut this past saturday at Ring of Combat. His opponent Steve Sooy of Vineland was a game competitor boasting a perfect 3-0 record going into the fight with 2 wins by knockout and the other a submission by guillotine. Mike was able to control the entire fight with dominant wrestling and jiu jitsu. Congratulations to Mike and all of our great teammates including the guys up at Serra Longo who helped him prepare.

Mike “Shamy” Elshamy will be making his highly anticipated MMA debut against a very tough opponent this evening. His opponent is 3-0 with two wins by knock out. If you have the opportunity to get up there and see our teammate put on a show there will be tickets available at the door for $40 or $60. We also have a limited number of Shamy walkout t’s that we will bring with us to the event for only $20 per shirt.
